ABBYY ISBN Reader is a sample application for ABBYY Mobile Data Capture Solution – the powerful platform for extracting printed or hand-printed text, barcodes and checkmarks from pictures taken on mobile device.
How it works:
1. You take ISBN photo by iPhone embedded camera.
2. iPhone frontend application compresses the image and sends it to backend data capture server based of ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine.
3. ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine provides the following processing stages:
3.1. Photo processing with ABBYY Camera OCR technology.
3.2. Photo analysis and recognition with ABBYY OCR and barcode recognition technologies.
3.3. ISBN data extraction using the special ABBYY FlexiLayout template.
4. iPhone application receives ISBN and searches ISBN web database for corresponding book, its details, and price on amazon.com.
5. You get the book’s details, price and direct link to amazon.com at your iPhone screen.
