The "dirty dozen" are those that have the most pesticide residue and you should try to buy organic. The "clean fifteen" have the least pesticide residue. These lists will help you know when to buy organic and when to skip organic if budgets are tight.
The Environmental Working Group analyzed 87,000 tests for presticide residues collected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The results were this list of 49 fruits and vegetables ranked by pesticide residue.
By avoiding the worst fruits and vegetables and eating the cleanest (or organic), consumers can reduce pesticide exposure by 80 percent.
