Using the Nintendo Wii as your personal web server is definitely an interesting way to stretch the console's functionality. Developers Cboomf and Felix123 recently rolled out the latest build to the homebrew server application, bumping up the app to alpha version 0.76.
While the program still has very little to offer in terms of dynamic server functions, it does demonstrate how the Nintendo console can be used for other purposes aside from casual gaming. Wii Web Server alpha v0.76 introduces a new password feature to avoid anyone from shutting down the program by accident.
Here's a short list of all the new stuff found in Wii Web Server alpha v0.76:
Added the option of a custom password to shut the server remotely using //quit?password (see README)
Removed /img (old)
To make use of the new feature, just specify your customized password into the wiiweb.xml file included with the archived bundle. If the program doesn't detect the XML file, it can still quit the server using the standard controls on the Wiimote.
