Piano rigolo The DS is alive with the sound of music! Play the songs they have sung for a thousand years with Piano rigolo v1.0 by blackos of the PAlib.info forums. This app places two octaves and some loose change (according to our resident piano expert Max) of functional black-and-white ivories on the touchscreen.
This is blackos' first attempt at C programming for the DS, but the result is a playable piano in the palm of your hands. Okay, so the DS touchscreen's limitations means you can't strike multiple keys like on a real piano, but you can play a few infectious bits like the Super Mario theme, the Nokia ringtone, or if you're a fan of air combat movies, try this on for size:
Do - Sol-Sol - Fa-Mi-Fa-Mi - Re - Re - Do-Re-Mi - Re-Mi-Fa - Mi-Do-Mi-Re...
One more bit of trivia provided by blackos: he created this program for his girlfriend who's learning how to read and write music. Besides the "Aww..." value of the heartfelt dedication, Piano rigolo should also be useful to other students of music who need a little handy keyboard to check their notes.

Xylophono Xylophono The folks over at Dev-fr.org homebrew community has something interesting going on. Last month they started a music-themed homebrew game/application competition, with a twist: the entries have to be "silly" in nature. The competition managed to garner a handful of kooky entries, and we're going to sample three of them in this article
