That was fast. Only a few hours after Karl wrote up on that Dutch SCEE admin dropping hints about FW 3.01, CrEec mailed us that he's found 3.01 up on Network Update already.
Sony hasn't updated their websites past DA BIG 3-OH yet, but we found this FW 3.01 update floating around available for download
Just like Sony promised, the 2.80 Firmware is out! Although not yet listed on all the regional PSP sites, a lot of news tips are coming in that the update is live through the Network Update function in the PSP

Took quite a while, but finally it's here. The Sony PSP Firmware 3.40 first appeared in Korea, and was later rolled out to Japan. Well, we already got quite a glimpse of the changelog from both Asian official sites, but here's a more English-friendly translation

IF YOU UPGRADE TO THIS FIRMWARE VERSION YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY HOMEBREW. However, you can downgrade back down to 1.50 by using the MPH downgrader tool found in our Hacks&Exploits section.
