Here's something to prove that the PSP is fully capable of running homebrew 3D games, and that it isn't out of the reach of developers to make a homebrew 3D game thanks to SANiK who has just released his Mario demo for the PSP. As the title suggests, this is not a full title and therefore is quite short, but this demo shows how using C you can create a 3D envirnoment just like this one and hopefully will encourage more developers to move away from 2D games and into the world of 3D.Here's what SANiK said about this release:
This demo is never going to become a full game. It lags at certain points but could be sped up 90%, I didn't give a kwap though to put more time into it. My little Mario Demo is just a taste of what could be done if one actually tries (with just 6 days to code it + 1 day to port it to the PSP)
This isn't within everyone's ability, and of course depending on the homebrew game 2D could be the better of the two. However this demo illustrates that 3D homebrew game is not impossible (take AnonymousTipsters' ThrottleX as evidence for that!) and therefore SANiK is giving developers the chance to finish this game; which apparantly can be achieved by starting from scratch using poly.c and math.c.
Developers download the source code, homebrew games download the demo and check out the potential of the PSP!
