Thanks to that unique system they grow an average of about 60 cm per day. They grow in the parts of the Philippines. They are also of notable economic and cultural significance in South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia, being used for building materials, as a food source, and as a versatile raw product. Not only are they used for a number of different applications but also are major food source for the dwindling population of Great Panda bears. It is an important plant that is part of various Eastern creation myths. Stories from Malaysia and the Philippines, for example, tell of the first man and woman emerging from this plant. Varieties are found in many parts of the world, including Australia, Africa and America. It is cultivated for food, clothing, and furniture. Nowadays it is used for floorings and also as a food. While we tend to think of lush, soft turf when we think of grass, the characteristics of this fast-growing plant couldn’t be more different. Strong yet flexible, it is more often likened to hardwood materials than to fibrous, bendable plants, and is used to make “hardwood” floor and furniture. Within the 91 genera of bamboo, there are over 1000 different species throughout the world, growing in a variety of climates, regions, and soils. They are used for constructions of houses, fences, bridges. 

Nowadays, it is turning up in utensils, and decorative accents. It is turning up in curtains and wall decors as well. Even big department stores and supplier of chain stores dedicates sections exclusively occupied by bamboo motif or designs and real or natural items. The question is why?
