locr GPS Photo-more and more mobile phone users are discovering geotagging, the latest hot trend. Using the new locr GPS Photo software for Windows Mobile, geotags are added to users’ photos, which can then be uploaded in a flash via GPRS, UMTS or W-LAN to www.locr.com.
locr GPS Photo for Windows Mobile makes it easier than ever before to provide photos with location information while out and about and to publish them on www.locr.com. Using geotags, coordinates saved within the image data, the website automatically assigns to the photos appropriate descriptions from Wikipedia. Friends, family or the general public – as desired by the user – can then view, rate and comment on the pictures.
The principle is extremely simple! Once the photo has been taken, locr GPS Photo assigns the current geographic data, including longitude and latitude, to the image. Photographers can also add other information and a description to the picture directly via their mobile phones. Using the locr software, they can then quickly and easily upload the finished image to the website via GPRS, UMTS or W-LAN. The photos, complete with the position at which they were taken, can then be admired at www.locr.com, on Google Maps and via Google Earth.
However, enabling users to publish their own photos online is not all that locr GPS Photo does! While on their travels users are also able to view the other users’ photos and access information on their current location. In fact, using locr Photo GPS turns every mobile phone into an interactive travel guide! Users learn more about their immediate surroundings from the entries in Wikipedia and benefit from other users' secret tips.
