Mews stands for Mobile News and is a usenet/NNTP client for Windows Mobile. Its intuitive user interface allows you to easily download and read articles from just about any public NNTP host.
· Offline reader: No internet connection is required while articles are read
· Articles can be downloaded over any type of internet connection (e.g. ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center, dial-up, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, WiFi, etc.)
· User interface adheres to established standards
· Looks and feels mostly like a built-in application
· All colors are drawn from the currently active theme
· Fully supports attachments: Offers & opens any file type your device is capable of opening, including the ones that are handled through 3rd party programs like e.g. pdf
· Fully supports all character sets present on your device, so a e.g. UK English device can correctly display articles in almost any European language
· Fully supports devices with VGA resolution screen and square screens
· Works with multiple servers
· Allows to minimize possibly expensive traffic through header-only downloads. The user can then download only the interesting article bodies
What's New in This Release: New Features:
· Quoted text is now shown with quote bars. This allows for improved readability and much better line wrapping.
· format=flowed is now fully supported for incoming and outgoing messages. In outgoing messages, text is still quoted with good old '>' characters. However, all paragraphs are automatically rewrapped when the message is sent such that your message is displayed pleasantly no matter whether it is read in a client that understands format=flowed or not.
· Quote the original message when following up
What's New in 0.9.3:
Fixed Issues:
· WM 6.5 only: Opening a post with attachments only shows a blank screen
· WM 6.5 only: The font used for the body of a post is too large
What's New in 0.9: New Features:
· Article Posting Support
· Groups can now contain up to 5000 articles Fixed Issues:
· Sometimes a lost connection is reported as a failure to write data
· A database compaction failure of unexpected type crashes the application
· Download speed degrades noticeably for groups containing many articles
What's New in 0.8: New Features:
· NNTP authentication support. Note that this feature required a database schema change. If you are upgrading from an earlier version you need to delete the Mews data directory.
· Navigation from an attachment back to the containing article Fixed Issues:
· During an article download, the lack of storage space is erroneously reported as a connection loss
