Pocket DB is a database program designed for the new Windows Mobile 6.0 Pocket PCs, the Sprint HTC Touch in specific, and all WM6 devices with a 240x320 screen in general. The program uses the latest Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 database engine. Pocket DB Standard Edition includes a free desktop utility to convert your Access databases (ACCDB or MDB) to the SQL Compact SDF format. An FTP server and a standalone program My DB running on the desktop PC allow Pocket DB to perform real-time bi-directional synchronization between SQL Server Compact on the mobile devices and Microsoft Access databases on the desktop PC. This custom-built synchronization does not require complicated set up like that from Microsoft such as IIS, account secutity, ActiveSync, etc. The program was designed from the ground up to handle tables with large number of records. It only retrieves and displays the number of records that the small Pocket PC's screen can display. This significantly helps in record navigation tasks and makes the retrieval of any record a snap.
