DSMIDI Demo It seems that TheRain has been working on one of the most exciting projects for the Nintendo DS. The developer has been working on a lot of things lately-- he recently added a midi port to his Nintendo DS. which looks like a two wire connection. He also created a DS MIDI Hardware. He said that "instead of etching a PCB, I used an old Passkey2 card, ripped out the internals and piggy backed the pins by soldering wires to them. Then I super glued the 5 PIN DIN connector."
And all that hardwork resulted to the release of the DSMIDI Demo V.1. The demo uses the DS's touch screen to control MIDI CC's 1 and 2 from the X and Y axis.. much like touch controllers like the Korg Kaoss Pad.
The developer is currently working on a project called dSTAR Sequencer. This is actually a MIDI Sequencer that uses his MIDI library and hardware hack for the Nintendo DS-- two of his other creations. The app will be an x0x like sequencer with drawable bar graph sequence lines. Currently, he sequencing functionality is mostly there including playback features and track assigning to MIDI continous controllers. Something we should look out for in the coming days, right?
For now, here is the DSMIDI Demo V.1. Think potential-- imagine, if this app gets perfected, you could actually play some gut-wrenching drums solo with your stylus in your DS. Cool! Have fun and also tell us what you think about it.
