McAfee WaveSecure protects your phone and your data, ensuring that your privacy is protected if your phone is lost or stolen. You can manage your phone's security from your phone, from the McAfee WaveSecure website, or by sending SMS text messages to your phone.

With McAfee WaveSecure, you can:

Track the location of your phone and identify its SIM card.
Lock your phone and set an alarm remotely.
Back up your personal data online.
Restore your data to your phone.
Wipe out your data remotely to protect your privacy.

Back up your data

Back up your personal data securely on the McAfee WaveSecure website. In addition to keeping your data safe, you can access it with a web browser from anywhere. You can back up your contacts, text messages, call logs, photos and videos.

Task
1 From the McAfee WaveSecure application on your phone, select Backup.
2 Select the items you want to back up, and then select Options.
3 Choose to back up your data manually or set up auto backup.
McAfee WaveSecure only backs up data you added or changed since your last backup. To back up everything, from Menu, select Re-backup old data.

Restore your data

Store your data securely online so that you can restore it to your phone if necessary.

Task
1 From the McAfee WaveSecure application on your phone, select Restore.
2 Select the items you want to back up, and then select Options.
You need a 3G/GPRS or WiFi connection to back up and restore data. If you are uploading large photos and videos, you may incur high mobile data charges. Please consult your wireless service provider for more information about mobile data charges.

Track your SIM card

McAfee WaveSecure detects when there is a new SIM card in your phone.

This might mean a thief stole your phone and is trying to insert his SIM card in it. The SIM card number is updated on your McAfee WaveSecure account and an SMS text message is sent out to all your buddies to notify them. You can also set McAfee WaveSecure to lock your phone when it detects a new SIM card to instantly protect your phone and your privacy. When you unlock the phone, the SIM card is recognized as "safe".

Manage your phone via SMS text messaging

You can send commands to your phone via short message service (SMS) text messaging to lock your phone, locate your phone and wipe out data stored on your phone. You cannot send these commands to a tablet or Google Voice.

Send these messages to your phone if you want to do the following:

To lock your phone, send Secure lock <PIN>. For example, Secure lock 123456.
To change your lock screen message, send Secure lock <PIN> <message>. For example, Secure lock 123456 This phone is locked.
To set an alarm that sounds when someone tries to unlock your phone without the PIN, send Secure lock alarm <PIN>. For example, Secure lock alarm 123456.
To set an alarm that sounds when someone tries to unlock your phone without the PIN and display your message, send Secure lock alarm <PIN> <message>. For example, Secure lock alarm 123456 This phone is locked.
To receive a text message from your phone which includes a link to a website that maps your phone's location, send Secure locate <PIN>. For example, Secure locate 123456.
To delete your contacts, text messages, call logs, photos and videos from your phone and SD card, send Secure wipe <PIN>. For example, Secure wipe 123456.

Access your McAfee WaveSecure account online

Log in to your McAfee WaveSecure account online to manage your mobile security.

From your McAfee WaveSecure account online, you can lock your phone remotely, track your phone's location and identify the SIM card in it. You can back up data from your phone, and restore data to your phone. You can also wipe out your phone's data.

Task
1 Open your web browser and go to the McAfee WaveSecure website (www.wavesecure.com).
2 In the username field, type your username:
If you are using a mobile phone, type your country code, area code and phone number. For example, 15551234567.
If you are using a tablet or Google Voice, type your email address.
3 In the PIN field, type the six-digit PIN you chose when you activated the mobile security service. For example, 123456.

Manage your subscription

You can renew your McAfee WaveSecure subscription from your McAfee WaveSecure account online. When you're done, update your subscription information on your phone.

Task
1 On your phone, open your McAfee WaveSecure application.
2 From the options menu, select Subscription Information.
3 Select Update Subscription, and then select OK.
