WiFi Setup

Your PC and BlackBerry must be WiFi enabled if you want to use MobiMouse over WiFi.

Both devices must be connected to the same Wireless Access Point - BlackBerry does not support Ad Hoc Networks.

Try to keep the wireless access point close to the computer with MobiMouse. Using a long range wifi connection may result in decreased performance. If possible, connect the PC directly to the access point through a wired connection. If you experience a lag try adjusting the antenna, move the access point, boost the signal, or get a wifi repeater.

To use a WiFi connection you will need to enter the LAN IP address and port of your PC into MobiMouse on the BlackBerry.

To find your LAN IP address and Port open MobiMouse on Windows and select the Network tab to view the LAN IP and Port. Do not use the WAN IP address.

Select the WiFi option in MobiMouse on the BlackBerry and enter the LAN IP and Port number.

The LAN IP and port must match what you see in MobiMouse on Windows

You can use a password when connecting over WiFi for added security. A randomly generated password is supplied when you first start MobiMouse. You can change this to your own password or leave the password field blank to disable password protection.

The password menu option is available on the BlackBerry when you have "WiFi" connection selected. The password on the BlackBerry must match the password on the PC exactly or you won't be able to connect. This means upper and lowercase sensitivity.

Click the "Connect" button in MobiMouse on the BlackBerry to start using MobiMouse.

MobiMouse must be running in the system tray of the Windows machine you want to connect to.

Windows Firewall

If you have Windows Firewall running, it may try to block MobiMouse.  To unblock MobiMouse go to the Windows Security Panel, select the Windows Firewall, and set it to allow connections to MobiMouse.

Other firewall software may block MobiMouse as well.  You will need to configure your firewall software to allow connections to MobiMouse.

Troubleshooting

If you have trouble connecting over WiFi, use the WiFi Tools in the BlackBerry Options to see if you can "Ping" the PC using the IP address. If you are unable to Ping the PC you may have a problem with your network configuration. Make sure you are actually connecting to your own WiFi network and not your neighbors! Use a unique SSID for your WLAN and not a generic one like "Linksys". Both the PC and the BlackBerry must be on the same network. We recommend setting up a static IP Address on the PC. You may also need to disable "AP Isolation" from your router configuration screen so that the BlackBerry can communicate with the PC. If the PC is connected via WiFi, try using an ethernet cable with the PC instead of WiFi to isolate the problem.
