Out of nowhere, homebrew coder Dustcrazy suddenly released pet application GTA: LCS .IMG Extractor Beat v1.0.1. Need we say more? Well, for the learned ones, we guess the name of the program itself is pretty much self-explanatory. but for those who are quite new to this, let us continue.
In a nut shell, Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories has a main location where all .IMG files are stored. This tool allows users to extract and replace the textures and the models found in that location. All you need are a PlayStation Portable (PSP) or a PlayStation 2 (PS2) image file and Visual Basic 6 Runtimes.
Also, please be sure to have 40 MB Free RAM, or the size of the IMG. Please take note that having twice as memory than required will definitely increase the speed of the process. The current version of GTA: LCS .IMG Extractor Beta takes a good amount of time to finish the build. This is due to the slower reading and writing speed of Windows file as oppose to the Windows API version.
Anyway, after securing all the needed things, installing the pogram and running it are pretty much easy. Just follow these procedures:
* Installation - As with most tools you just need to copy the contents of this program to your desktop or where ever. The programs does require the "Extract" Folder, and inside of the the "LDM" folder + "XET" folder.
* Running - This pretty simple. Just drag the IMG file to the program. Or goto Windows Open With and choose the LCS Extractor exe.
Lastly, Dustcrazy mentioned that this has only been tested with the main PSP/PS2 image files. It currently does not read a DIR type file. He plans though to release an updated version soon, with tons of improvements of course, as well as the porgram's source code.
