The PDA Text Editor is a simple application that runs from your storage card on your PDA. It not only runs from the card but it also saves all its text files there so you never loose them. And its totally free.
Why:
I speedily wrote it to use as person tool while taking notes at work and even in the event of PDA failure or reboot I didn't loose any data (it could happen). Also it makes for editing the files real easy as you just swap the card from PDA to PC or another PDA. Since we are using text you can use your Linux or Apple PC to edit the data and the PDA will see the changes.
How:
To get this wee text editor download the zip file then extract to your storage card. use the PDA's file explorer to navigate to the folder on your storage card then double click the file TextEditor.exe.
Once running it looks like notepad say. Add your text then click save. On save you are prompted for a filename only; enter one without a file type extension. The file will automatically be saved to the same folder as the TextEditor.exe.
If you select open you will be given a list of files in that folder, select it from the list and press OK.
Once back at your PC put the card in the card reader and navigate to the folder were TextEditor.exe lives. Use this exe or your favorite PC text editor to edit the data. Copy the data to the PC hard drive as a back up, just in case.
