EVDash is a Palm OS application that acts as a set of dash board gauges for electric vehicles. It displays battery pack voltage, amps being drawn from the battery pack, and two different estimates of remaining battery capacity. It works with Xantrex's Link 10, formerly called the E-Meter. Just plug the Palm device into the E-Meter, preferably through an optical isolator to protect the Palm device and start the EVDash program.
- Voltage - Battery pack voltage.
- Amps - Amps being drawn from or put back into the battery pack.
- Capacity based on voltage - Capacity calculated from the pack voltage under very low load. Voltage drops off as pack capacity drops.
- Capacity based on amps - Capacity calculated from the amps drawn integrated over time compared to the pack capacity. The peukert effect is taken into account.
Once you install the EVDash.prc on the Palm pull down the menu and go to the setup window. Enter the pack capacity and the Peukerts constant. The state of charge voltages should be determined experimentally by recording the voltages as the battery pack is completely discharged.
