DSO is a freeware astronomical program for Palm OS devices that should help to plan observations of deep sky objects.
The program allows to search for objects in the NGC/IC database by the object:
Minimum dimension
Availability (i.e. its altitude at the particular time and location should be above some minimum)
Type (galaxy, globular cluster, nebula etc.)
Visibility (log(C0/C)) in particular telescope according to the visibility concept developed by Jose Torres or maximum magnitude
You could also limit search to Messier, Caldwell or Hershell 400 objects.
Features
Performs search of NGC/IC objects to be observed
Performs search of closeby NGC/IC objects in the vicinity of a specified one
Exports search results directly to Planetarium
Calculates visibility for any object and graph the result
Creates an observation plan
Locates the object for equatorial mounts in 'manual go to' style by calculating the number of turns of RA and DEC handles from some star or other DSO
Views other people observation logs (in Russian, from www.astronomy.ru

The trouble was, he always seem to read about them after-the-fact! Jim consistently missed one of nature`s finest celestial displays!

Lunar Lunar - Astronomy for the Palm OS. Lunar helps you observe the Moon by showing you the phases, the position in its orbit around Earth, the distance from Earth, its age in the current lunation and the percentage of illumination. It also gives you the names of the prominent features on the face of the Moon and the major quarters in the current lunation
astro-metrics Desk Accessory astro-metrics Desk Accessory - The astro-metrics DA shows the Local and Universal date and time, the Greenwich and Local Mean Sidereal Time and the Julian Day and Modified Julian Day. As a Desk Accessory it can be called up in any other application currently running to give you the current times
Sol System Sol System is a program designed to show the position and orbit for all the planets in the Sol system (Sol being the name of our star). This kind of display is sometimes called an orrery and is useful in seeing planetary alignment for various dates.
· Main screen displays as many planets as you wish at varying zoom levels
TeleCalc TeleCalc calculates various Telescope optical design values, also has a glossary of terms
SunFly SunFly - allows computation of sunrise and sunset observed from an aircraft.
With SunFly, mainly an application for aviators, you can exactly predict not only time but also the position of sunrise or sunset.
Insert two waypoints with its coordinates and the respective estimated time over (ETO), the flight level and SunFly does the rest
