Nanoneer - CyLearning.com is dedicated to bringing you software for the Palm that gets you thinking. Our first commercial product release is Nanoneer™ . A game for the Palm that puts you in the nano world making molecules by assembling atoms, as seen in the screen image. The game is open to adding more masks and molecules. You can trade them with fellow Nanoneers.

The large hex dot array in the middle of the screen is the "Nanoneer Grid" where you will be putting together atoms to make your new and interesting molecules. This area has an array of dots in the form of a hexagonal grid. The centers of these dots are where your atoms will go. In the very center is a red dot to mark the center of this hexagonal grid.

If you'll look on the lower middle side of the screen you'll see an image of your current atom that can be placed on the grid. The up and down arrows rotate through the various atoms available. The left and right arrows rotate the current atom for alignment when being placed. The 5-way buttons on the Tungsten Palm can also be used to select and rotate the atom.

The "Undo" button in the lower left side of the screen undoes your last action. The "Mask" button turns the mask display on and off.

These atoms like to be bonded together so atoms with too many free bonds (greater than 2) will fly away from your grid. This is where you need to place the atoms on the grid with the bonds aligned which should make them turn from red to green. Also, atoms really don't like to have an atom try to bond without reciprocating. Thus, trying to bond to an atom, which does not have a bond for alignment, will cause that atom to fly away. Think of it as the atom's bond pushing the present atom off the grid.

Atoms cannot sit next to each other if they do not have mutual bonds - both will fly off. The atoms without bonds are useful to remove other atoms. You can also delete an atom by clicking on it but beware destroying one atom may cause a chain reaction to occur.

You can make molecules freehand by stringing together atoms. Or you can select to try to match a mask. To do this select "Load ..." from the "Mask" menu. The mask is the faint white area behind the molecule, as seen in the screen image.

The Options menu let you set the "Preferences..." which is the sound level. You may also use the "Help..." or "About Nanoneer " menu items.

Good luck and have fun being a Nanoneer!
