EL-IXIR Strategy Game - EL-IXIR is a computer board game, inspired by the ancient Chinese game Go, for people of any age. Not a shoot 'em up game, EL-IXIR is a thoughtful strategy game, where both skill and luck play significant roles. Not only will it challenge and entertain you and your friends, EL-IXIR provides hours of interesting social interaction when played between two people. You can even play as a team with people of the same team taking turns making their moves. You can also play EL-IXIR against the computer with four selectable skill-levels. EL-IXIR is very easy to learn it has very few rules -- but it is difficult to master. As you become more skillful at it, the intricacies of the game increases as well.
EL-IXIR is played on a 14 by 14 square board. The objective of the game is simple: to capture territory. You move into empty squares by dragging your pen, indicating your initial square & desired direction. You will be given 1-4 squares, based on a number randomly generated. You choose your moves based on an overall strategy to win more territory than your opponent.
You can capture your opponent's squares by surrounding them. Once surrounded they turn into your color & become yours. As long as any square or groups of squares are not connected to one of the EL-IXIR corners, you can re-capture them. But beware! Your opponent can do the same thing!
If you own and connect to one of the EL-IXIR corners, your connected squares become immortal. Your opponent won't be able to re-capture them, even if they are surrounded. Your score is the number of your EL-IXIRed squares. EL-IXIR squares can capture any square or group of squares, even empty squares, by surrounding them. This is a faster way to capture squares.
To stay in the game, you need at least one EL-IXIR corner, else your squares are at the peril of being recaptured. You must also connect them to your EL-IXIR corner to insure immortality. Get one or two EL-IXIR corners early on, as they go fast. Your score is the number of squares you capture and make immortal. The first player scoring more than 98 wins the game.
