A number of these features are unique and subject to OzMiz's patent applications. Importantly and unlike Smartphones, such as the iPhone and Blackberry, the ScrollMiz technology is owned by the user, is platform independent and device agnostic. These features allow it to be fully transportable by the user to any applicable device. The competitive advantages of ScrollMiz lie in its unique ability to selectively compress and reformat content, via the utilisation of its proprietary algorithms and methodologies. These include the automatic identification and elimination of unnecessary information that is not required for viewing content on a mobile device. This process significantly reduces content size and facilitates its customisation to suite specific mobile devices, user preferences and/or type of content. In doing so, content (both text and images) can be compressed by a factor of up to 3 to 12 times. This generates significant cost savings and faster access. Reformatting includes automatic conversion of web HTML, PDF and word documents to text, as well as altering image quality to fit device/network capacity and/or user preference. Reformatted content is then further customised to fit nicely onto each specific screen. Coupled with features such as automatic (vertical) scrolling and the ability to easily change font size, ScrollMiz significantly improves the usability of the content and the viewing experience of the user. Furthermore, ScrollMiz's conversion process is undertaken without the need to make changes to the content at its source. This is done via the OzMiz server, which sits between the Internet and the device.
