MeccaPhone - Mecca (Makkah in Arabic) is the center of the Islamic world and the birthplace of both the Prophet Muhammad and the religion he founded. The focal point of Mecca is the Kaaba, the "House of God" believed by Muslims to have been built by Abraham and his son Ishmael, and which is covered in a gold-embroidered black fabric. The importance of direction of Mecca can be felt from the holy prayer: "In the name of Allah, may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. Oh Allah, forgive me my sins and open to me the doors of your mercy. I seek refuge in Allah the Almighty and in His Eminent Face and in His Eternal Dominion from the accursed Satan." The pilgrim performs the tawaf. This is a counter-clockwise procession which circles, "the Ka'aba, the [cube-shaped] stone building Muslims believe was originally built by Abraham and his son Ishmael... It is a symbol of unity for Muslims because all prayers, wherever they are performed, are oriented in the direction of the Ka'aba." All Muslims, wherever they are on Earth, pray five times a day in the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca (located at 21° 25' 24" N and 39° 49' 24" E in DMS notation). MeccaPhone compass application makes sure all the Muslims of the world are praying in one direction symbolizing unity and orientation, facing towards the Mecca, the direction of God. Muslims are supposed to perform five prayers every day. Each prayer is given a certain prescribed time in which it must be performed. MeccaPhone can calculate all the prayer times mathematically for any location with the help of latitude and longitude coordinates information. It is the only compass application that has an automatic pre - scheduled alarm that snoozes five minutes before the time of each prayer everyday so that you are ready well in time to pray. The ultimate goal to launch this application is to make sure all Muslims have a utility mobile application at their fingertips so that they need not worry about the direction of Mecca anytime anywhere in the world when they pray to God.
