SecureDisk - This application is very simple to use. It allows you to protect your crucial personal files.
What it does:
Creates a folder in your "My Documents" directory called "My SecureDisk". This directory is a virtual storage device that you save your confidential/personal files to.
Run SecureDisk and choose hit protect. Now you will notice that the virtual device "My SecureDisk" is now protected.
Your files SecureDisk is now password protected from intruders.
To access the files on the virtual device "My SecureDisk", simply run SecureDisk and enter your password to unprotect the virtual drive so that you can have read/write access to it again. (Oh, and your initial password, when you first install the software is password).
Some unique features:
Your "My SecureDisk" remains protected even when attached to your desktop.
Safe; if you lose your password, you won't lose your files (contact us for a solution).
Works with ALL applications on your Pocket PC. Because "My SecureDisk" is a virtual device located under your "My Documents" directory, ALL your applications have access to your files.
Uses SIP for password entry. That means that you can have an alphanumeric password.
Passwords can be entered through a keyboard, SIP, or simply written on screen (with Microsoft Transcriber)
Passwords are not limited in size.
Only protect the stuff you want.
Once you install SecureDisk, you can remove your normal password protection and just start using the virtual SecureDisk directory for your confidential files. If you ever lose your device, you can reset assured that if the police find your device, they can start it up and find the owner by viewing Owner Information without having an annoying password proction coming up (this is not possible if you are using the standard password protection), but still have the file you don't want others to see protected!
When you install SecureDisk to your Pocket PC, do the following:
Download the .exe file
Attach Pocket PC to desktop
Execute .exe file on desktop
Follow onscreen prompts
Run SecureDisk
Tap on "Protect My SecureDisk"
Run SecureDisk again
Enter your desired password in "New Password" (your password must be alphanumeric)
Enter your desired password again
Enter the password "password" into the password entry widget
Repeat if the password was not accepted
Run SecureDisk again
Enter your new password into the password entry widget
You can now start saving your confidential/personal files to /My Documents/My SecureDisk/
Run SecureDisk again and tap "Protect My SecureDisk" when you want to secure your personal files
Free upgrades! Works with Pocket PC and Pocket PC 2002. Works on all models.
As of right now, you cannot map your "My SecureDisk" to a Compact Flash Memory Card or to the ROM. A future upgrade may allow these options.
