mobileWATCH is a watch face application, generally used on the Fossil WristPDA watch, but usable on any device with PalmOS 4 or greater. mobileWATCH solves some of the typical functional problems of the WristPDA. For instance, it allows louder alarm sounds, better control of alarm sound duration, and prevents 'phantom' alarm. Also, mobileWATCH allows you to create your own custom watch faces, so that you are not limited by what a watchface designer has decided to create for you. The user can use bitmaps from any PalmOS application to build any face imaginable.
1 Create an analogue face
- Combines analogue hands, including a second hand, with custom bitmaps.
- The background is clear, so if you 'popup' this watch face using mobileLAUNCH it will not entirely obscure the current screen display.
- Overlapping elements. The large hands overlap the bitmap, the second hand overlaps the large hands, etc.
- Shown in color on Palm OS5 device. The WristPDA would display in shades of grey.
2 Add a full background image
- This will overwrite any previously existing information on the screen during 'popup'.
3 Create a digital/analogue hybrid
- Digital and analogue elements can exist at the same time.
- This face also shows:
- Custom text, outlined
- Next event display
- Battery monitor
- Day / date
4 Create a binary face
- Binary elements are shown overlapped on top of a full screen bitmap.
- Surprize people with your ability to tell time on something that looks nothing like a clock!
5 Add face elements
- An unlimited number of elements can be added.
- Elements at the top of the list render first.
- Lower elements overlap the higher elements.
- Elements can be reorganized using cut/paste commands.
6 Position an element
- Define the anchor (x,y) point, and state if the anchor is at the center, top-left, etc.
- Define supplementary dimensions, such as radius of minute and hour hands.
- Lower elements overlap the higher elements.
- Elements can be reorganized using cut/paste commands.
7 Establish dimensions
- Define supplementary dimensions.
- Radius of minute and hour hands.
- Width of hands.
8 Use conditional statements
- Control when an element will appear.
- Condition is based on time elements, battery status or 'locked' status.
- 2 conditions can be applied simultaneously.
9 Set element parameters
- Select which bitmap to display, from which prc file on the device.
- Select which parts of a date element to display: Date, day, month year, timezone, etc.
10 Choose a color
- Each element can have its own color.
- Elements can be outlined.
- Elements can be rendered non-opaque on OS4.1 devices.
