BTExplorer - a powerful and user-friendly Bluetooth application for Windows CE and Windows Mobile based devices. BTExplorer can provide rich stand-alone Bluetooth functionality via its flexible user interface or it can be extended and configured to act as a component of a larger Bluetooth-enabled solution. Because BTExplorer is based on Stonestreet One's industry-leading Bluetopia Bluetooth protocol stack your device is ensured extensive profile support and broad device interoperability. With complete Bluetooth specification version 2.1 support BTExplorer provides all the latest Bluetooth features and capabilities including the new Secure Simple Pairing security model.
Key Features of BT Explorer
BTExplorer provides an fully integrated Bluetooth experience for all major Bluetooth profiles including Hands Free/Headset, Advanced (Stereo) Audio, A/V Remote Control, File/Object Transfer, Dial-up Networking, Personal Area Networking (PAN), HID Devices (Mouse and Keyboard), Contact and Calendar Synchronization, Serial Port access, and more. Each profile works intelligently with the operating system to provide a fluid user experience and workflow.
BTExplorer for Windows Mobile also adds extended Bluetooth capabilities for many Windows Mobile applications and features. BTExplorer is fully integrated with Wireless Manager/Flight Mode functionality and supports all Bluetooth capabilities required for the Windows Mobile Logo Test Kit. Stereo audio from any program can be sent to a wireless headset and the A/V Remote Control Profile can be used to control Windows Media Player (play/pause/etc). Pocket Outlook Contacts and Calendars can be synchronized over Bluetooth, and Hands-Free/Headset device support is integrated to the Microsoft Dialer application.
BTExplorer's default Wizard Mode view provides an intuitive step-by-step flow that makes it easy to discover and explore Bluetooth devices in the vicinity and make connections to those services. These connections can be saved for future use and BTExplorer can manage 'trust' relationships with frequently used Bluetooth devices. Custom icons indicate the device class (type) as well as available profiles and services. The optional Explorer mode can be used to manage Bluetooth devices in a tree view style hierarchy useful for managing many devices simultaneously.
BTExplorer has an intuitive settings interface that allows configuration of many Bluetooth options including security policies, selecting and configuring local profiles, device visibility settings, and more. Flexible provisioning options allow each device to be setup with pre-configured permissions, profile options, and settings appropriate for any scenario. Profile access and even device selection can be limited so BTExplorer only works in its intended capacity for a given use case.
BTExplorer also includes the BTExplorer API; a real-time interface that lets third-party applications initiate connections, provision device favorites, and manage on-going connections. A powerful serial port based interface allows custom applications to send and receive Bluetooth data via standard serial port stream interfaces. BTExplorer can be configured to create outgoing Bluetooth connections when a serial port is opened and multiple virtual serial ports can be used simultaneous with different devices and services. The API and virtual comm. ports form a powerful framework that can be used to build custom Bluetooth solutions or Bluetooth-enable existing applications easily.
BTExplorer Supports Multiple Devices
BTExplorer is available for Windows Mobile (WM5, WM6.1) and Windows CE (CE5, CE6) platforms and can run using internal Bluetooth modules or externally connected modules. BTExplorer can interface to any Bluetooth module or chipset via USB or UART/RS-232 with both H4 and CSR BCSP protocols supported. BTExplorer can work with an Bluetooth version chipset and will adapt its features to the appropriate version (up to 2.1 + EDR). BTExplorer, via the Bluetopia protocol stack, can be configured to load custom firmware for Bluetooth chipsets, perform vendor specific intiailization, and handle other custom actions. BTExplorer integrates with the Bluetopia stack to provide complete power management handling and can be configured for a variety of Bluetooth chipset power related behaviors.
