For example, with Photo Translator, there's no need to remember the meanings of all those "pithiviers" or "madeleines"; just take a picture of the menu and find out exactly what it is that you're thinking of ordering.
How to get the best recognition results:
1. Good lighting is a key factor.
2. Turn off flash in Camera Options to reduce possible glare. You can also enable Black&White mode to speed up the recognition.
3. Hold your BlackBerry right above the text, rotate the screen to landscape orientation. Keep the picture aligned with viewfinder edges and move the device up or down until the text fits the screen size.
4. Hold your BlackBerry firmly and take a picture.
The app uses Google OCR Engine and Google Translator.
