HandGPS is provided for use with Windows PPC only. All versions of windows PPC are supported. Users are prompted to register product before use. License is valid for two years and may be extended. HandGPS is used to capture GPS coordinates to any open windows PPC application. Recommended applications include Excel, Word, Pocket Access or a commercial mobile relational database such as HandBase. Coordinates are captured at the same time as required attribute data thus avoiding the possibility incorrectly assigning point coordinates. Key Benefits (1) The client has complete control over attribute content and does not need the services of a programmer for each change in field data composition. (2) The user may paste coordinates into several open applications or may capture several coordinates per record. (3) GPS connection and interface is very easy to use providing GPS information, a satellite sky plot and a comm port scan for gps data allowing gps data to be gathered by any possible means. (4) Local support for applications and PPC operation available from First Works. Combinations Hardware - HandGPS may be used on any PPC. Windows Compact Framework is required and is available free of charge as a download from Microsoft if not present on the PPC. First Works will be happy to supply a copy. Therefore almost any PPC is able to use HandGPS (Have not found one that cannot yet!) and any NMEA compliant GPS will do. Connection may be by ser04:54 PM 2004/07/2704:54 PM 2004/07/27ial port, Blue Tooth or CF slot. New SD GPS is about to become available and these should present no problems. Software - HandGPS works well with any software that has a paste edit function or will allow windows "ctl V". HandBase is a third party application not supplied with HandGPS, support and customisation services are provided for it by First Works. Excel and Word are popular choices for use with HandGPS for simple filed projects. Customisation services to HandGPS are available for client specific projects. Please Contact First Works (gpsmaps@cdrive.co.za) for more details. If Required you may download the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework feely from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2f6f11ce-d696-4ef6-bedd-28cd6cb6bfb3&displaylang=en
