  The Touchstone by Edith Wharton - Edith Wharton (1862-1937) the first woman to ever win the Pulitzer prize for her novel The Age of Innocence, in 1921. In her long career, which stretched over forty years and included the publication of more than forty books, Edith Wharton portrayed a fascinating segment the post-Civil War period of American expansion in business, foreign affairs, and the arts. The Touchstone was Edith's third book, composed in 1900.
