The shower of homebrew goodness continues as Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developer Zx-81 recently made it known in the QJ.NET forums that his latest project, the PSPTI99: TI-99/4 Emulator for the PSP version 1.0.1 is now available for download and use. Awesome!
A little backgrounder on this bit of homebrew kit from Zx-81: it's a port of the TI99Sim, an emulator of the Thomson TI99 home computer, and it emulates the TI99/4 model quite faithfully, down to its ability to play some very neat games - some of these being the oldschool version of Popeye, Sega's Congo Bongo, as well as its own version of Space Invaders. Pretty neat, for a computer sponsored by none other than Bill Cosby.
So, how does one use PSPTI99? One can easily find that out through the readme bundled in the downloadable archive, and that's usually required reading, so make sure to do so before doing anything else. But if you're not the type to do so, then let us quote a chunk of the instructions, just to be on the safe side.
Installation:
* Unzip the zip file, and copy the content of the directory fw3.x or fw1.5.
* Put your cartridge images generated using software available in the cartridges folder.
