Coder Red_Squirrel visited the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums earlier to announce that the Alternative VSHMenu homebrew has been upgraded to version 3.5. This plugin offers all the fucntions of the M33 VshMenu, as well as its own utilities such as the ability to take screenshots of the XMB browser.
Red_Squirrel states that this will be the last update to the Alternative VSHMenu line. Here are version 3.5's changes:
* Changed the disposition of menu lines to avoid to occupy all PSP screen height.
* Added a function to enable/disable M33 Network Update.
* Now when VSHMenu begins, the button "Shutdown PSP" will be selected as the first. In this way the process of PSP turning off, reboot and standby is quickly.
* Added 2 new versions of the PRX: one of them is the Italian translation (by Red Squirrel) and the other is the French Translation (by Britix).
Would-be users are strongly advised to view the readme included in the bundle for proper installation and usage instructions. You may also want to visit Red_Squirrel's release thread over at the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums to leave your feedback.

IconPack IconPack
Icons have it bad. They're just sitting there in your file explorer window, looking pretty as, well, an icon. But their life is a tough one to live. One of the great things we can definitely say about working here is that there's always room for praise. Homebrewers make QJ a great place to be, but there are also other people in our scene who deserve a pat on the back for taking an idea and making it real. One such member of the community is caliFrag
Project4 Open Project4 Open
Homebrew developer Auraomega sent QJ.NET an email informing us that Project4 lives on. As a matter of fact, the coder had already worked on and had released Open Beta 3 for this Sony PSP XMB replacement.
According to Auraomega, it is true that the source code were lost at college but he was able to find a backup taken the day after release of Open Beta 2

We all love homebrew applications. Despite having said that though, it's a given fact that not every single one of us can be as good as some of the devs here like Dark_AleX, Noobz, and others. Some want to customize their PSP units but are afraid to do so because of the lack of technical know-how about hexediting or patches
