Retro is in! Or at least that's what homebrew developer Mia had in mind when he designed Game&Watch Fantasies (1.0) for the PSP, an old school puzzle game which takes its roots from the original Game & Watch handheld.
The object of the game is to go through all the levels by leading the "hero" that you control from one end of the screen to the other. While the game's controls are pretty simple, don't expect the game to be a cakewalk. The circle and x buttons allow your character to jump, and you can move him horizontally using the d-pad. There's even a laid back background score that you can toggle using the triangle button.
If you still remember ancient video game history 101, you'll be pleasantly surprised that this game perfectly simulates all the physics of a classic Game & Watch character's movements. So if you're looking into a bit of nostalgic gaming, then you can check out this classic tribute to the grand daddy of handhelds through the download link we've provided below.
Here are the features of this simple, yet challenging homebrew game:
* Rule #1 - Like in a Game&Watch, the hero moves discontinuously. Therefore, he can "teleport" through thin obstacles by simply walking or jumping. However, the gravity doesn't allow him to do so: it is impossible to go through an obstacle when falling.
* Rule #2 - If the obstacle is too large, the hero will move until he touches it. This property can be used to adjust his horizontal or vertical position, depending on the situation.
Score - Every time the hero steps to the left / right or jumps, a beep can be heard. The aim of the game is to go through all the levels while producing as few beeps as possible.
