Art, through our forums, has once again updated his homebrew application, X-Flash. Yup, that first sentence has become a template here at QJ because the dev never ceases to amaze us with his dedication when it comes to his creations. Just a few days ago (two days to be really exact), he has unleashed X-Flash v16d and now here we are writing about v16f. That's just amazing!
If this is the first time you're reading about X-Flash or if this is your first time to try it out, then we suggest that you catch up on your reading and reviewing. Aside from reading the very helpful readme file that comes with the download, we suggest that you read up on our past reports about it. We wouldn't want you to rely on faith alone while using this app and we're quite certain that Art wouldn't want that either. So read up! It's always good for you.
Just to give you an idea what X-Flash is all about, this app is a firmware mod program that gives you a quick way to apply newfound firmware hacks. Before, X-Flash always checked for PSP firmware 1.5 at startup and it terminates automatically if it detects a different firmware. But as of version 16, X-Flash auto detects PSP firmware version at startup and allows execution with 2.71 SE firmware PSP units. With that, let's go over the changelog.
V16f (13/11/06):
* Bug fix to biult in Plain Black wallpapers (firmware version 2.71 SE).
V16e (13/11/06):
* Fixed 2.71 SE file inflation bug. Several rco files, once modified, were being written back appended with zeros to match the larger size of their 1.50 firmware counterpart. This causes more consumption of memory on flash0, and possible verify failures if there is no remaining space. This bug has been present since X-Flash V16.
* Set PSP nickname to "raw" to find an option to perform a complete 32Mb binary flash dump.
* The raw dump routine is an sdk sample (firmware versions 1.50 or 2.71 SE).
* Biult in Plain Black Wallpapers are 1x1 resolution to collectively save approx 70 Kb of space over the
* stock XMB backgrounds (firmware version 2.71 SE).
And here are Art's future plans for v16g:
* Support for firmware versions 2.71 SE-A, and possibly 2.71 SE-B2.
* Support for firmware version 2.71 SE-C if it has arrived.
* Detection of 1.50 registry files being used with 2.71 SEinstallations with the option to write a new 2.71 registry. (firmware version 2.71 SE)
* Donations screen where the nicknames of donators will appear.
* Plain Black PSP About screens. (firmware version 2.71 SE)
