For those of us who enjoy a bit of instant messaging joy on the Sony PlayStation Portable, here's some very good news: homebrew developer Zx-81 has just updated Danzel's AFKIM, and in this version he's fixed quite the critical issue that was fortunately spotted by a certain LegolasFett. So if you've been experiencing any issues at all with this particular instant-messaging program, then snapping up this update should fix that.
A little backgrounder, here: AFKIM stants for Away From the Keyboard Instant Messenger, and it handles all the usual IM clients such as AIM, ICQ, MSN, GTalk and Yahoo. Sounds awesome? That's because it is, and it lets you keep in touch with your friends so long as you're connected.
As we've reported, this new version takes care of a critical issue that renders the previous versions obsolete. The root cause of this is the several changes made in the authentication messages sent by the Bitlbee server. And as such, AFKIM has been updated with those changes in mind. So if you want to continue using AFKIM, then you've all the reasons in the world to upgrade.
