PSPLife- Today we are opn hand to dish out yet another homebrew game from a developer brand new to the homebrew scene, Ipodlinux.
He has brought us PSPLife today, a homebrew game clone of 'ConwaysGame Of Life' which may remind some of you of the classic elecronic handheld game 'Lights Out.
Here's a short explanation of how the game works if you think you have the brainpower to conquer this on your PSP.
The universe of the Game of Life is an infinite two-dimensional grid of cells, each of which is either alive or dead. Cells interact with their eight neighbours, which are the cells that are directly horizontally, vertically, or diagonally adjacent.
At each step in time, the following effects occur:
1. Any live cell with fewer than two neighbours dies, as if by loneliness.
2. Any live cell with more than three neighbours dies, as if by overcrowding.
3. Any live cell with two or three neighbours lives, unchanged, to the next generation.
4. Any dead cell with exactly three neighbours comes to life.
More information on the Game of Life can be found here. Now lets get back to the PSP version. It is in a beta form so you can expect a few bugs to be present in both the GUI and the algorithm. IpodLinux has tested PSPLife on firmware 2.71 using Dark_Alex's HEN C loader, firmware 2.60 with Fanjita and Ditlew's 0.98 eLoader and on the good old 1.5 , and I am proud to say that it works perfectly on each.
But this homebrew game doesn't end here, IpodLinux has major plans for the future of this game and here are some ofthe improvements that you can expect to see over the next few weeks:
- Ability to choose the planet size (right now it's 10x10).
- Ability to restart.
- Ability to remove cells.
- Ability to change the cells during 'game'play.
- 1.0 binary and 1.5 Kxploited binaries have been included in the download but remember, if you are using Dark_Alex's 2.71 Custom Firmware SE-A you can use either format!
