We don't really know what's the deal with Sony lately, but it seems like they're trying to release firmware updates almost every week. We really wouldn't mind that, if it wasn't for the changes or rather, the lack of them in every update. Just like the last one, the new firmware 3.02 offers nothing but "Security updates". What's funny is that no actual exploits have been found.
I can think of a reason though. With the recent addition of PSP-PS3 interconnectivity, it's only natural that there might be a few bugs in the interconnectivity which could result in PS3 hacks, or vice-versa. But then again, I haven't mentioned something yet - It works in Devhook! Yes, that's right, the newest firmware being released a couple of weeks after the previous one being decrypted can be decrypted and emulated through Devhook.
With the flurry of updates, I can guess that once the PS3 reaches the right people, it will again be beneficial to have a lower firmware..Who knows what security updates are in the latest version. As always, this firmware will not support homebrew. Please do not upgrade to 3.02 in the hopes of it being hacked in the near future. Finally, for anyone who wants to tinker with it, or use it in Devhook, here's the file. For the record, the instructions to use it in Devhook are the same as the previous version
