PSP Homebrew Developer Red_Squirrel has just released the latest version of Alternative VSHMenu, which has all the functions of M33's VSHMenu but with some added functions like being able to change the background color.
A couple of bugs have been fixed for Alternative VSHMenu v3.0. The update also introduces some new functions to the program. Here's the changelog from Red_Squirrel:
* Fixed problems with USB device setting when UMD9660 are selected.
* Last USB Device chosen will be saved, so at PSP reboot default USB Device will be the last one chosen.
* Changes to CPU and BUS frequency will be applied immediately on menu closing, without requiring console reboot.
* Add UMD-VIDEO function (like M33 VSHMenu)
* ISOs in ISO/VIDEO directory will be checked on every VSHMenu beginning, so changes (adding/removing ISO) will be realized immediately without requiring console reboot!
* Now pressing again the "start" key VSHMenu will close itself.
Users are encouraged to browse through the readme included in the archive for installation instructions. Red_Squirrel also warns: "Do not flash this plugin erasing M33 satelite.prx! In this case Alternative VSHMenu does not work!"

We all love homebrew applications. Despite having said that though, it's a given fact that not every single one of us can be as good as some of the devs here like Dark_AleX, Noobz, and others. Some want to customize their PSP units but are afraid to do so because of the lack of technical know-how about hexediting or patches
