  Safe Password

If you're thinking of new ways to keep your PSP safe from prying eyes, then this may just be the ticket for you. That is, if you've got enough PSP know-how to handle this password protection app.

DreaDNoughT1666 released Safe Password and Super Safe Flasher, a pair of apps collectively called the Super Safe program. Super Safe allows users to input a password at the coldboot of your psp to keep any pesky siblings from messing with your handheld. It lets you input a password with a maximum of 10 characters, and you can use it without a memory stick since it writes to flash1.

There are some caveats to using this app, however. For starters, it limits the apps you can use on startup to just the Super Safe program. Second, Super Safe is currently not a very newbie-friendly device, as the download lacks a set of directions for new users and is meant for Dark_Alex's 3.03 OE-B firmware. Lastly, the app still falls prey to people with some grasp of using a PSP as you can simply bypass the password protection by entering recovery mode and disabling autoboot.

For now, we suggest you visit our forums to read up on DreaDNoughT1666's installation directions, as well as the comments below. You can gleam more information from the devs there as to whether this app is right for your experience level. Until an updated version with a readme comes out though, we'll still fall back on our favorite protection scheme: sticking the PSP under our bed in its locked strongbox, along with our classified documents about the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence.
