As much as homebrew games cover almost all genre, there are those that seem to be the favorite of the community and even by the developers themselves. One good example are space-shooters which will definitely never go out of style. Recent ones that come to mind include WebFest v1.0 and Birdman's Shooter.
Coder myersn024 dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and added another space shooter homebrew titled yaS^4. If you are wondering what does the name of the game stand for, it means Yet Another Stupid SideScrolling Shooter. This is the first release of the title and it's currently in version 0.05.
Just like the name implies, yaS^4 has players controlling a spacecraft that must blow up every single asteroid in sight. myersn024 intends to work further in this game and he provided this to-do list:
* Add sound
* Add some animation and explosions
* Add high score saving
* Add burst fire and more weapons
* Add power-ups
* Possibly implement shields
* Touch up some of the sprite textures
* Increase difficulty based on score
* Whatever else comes to mind that I think will be cool
Feel free to download yaS^4 v0.05 and try it out for yourselves. The developer added that he will appreciate it if you send him suggestions or bug reports to make it easier for him to improve the game. This specific homebrew was build for firmware 3.71 and works fine with 3.52 M33-4. It hasn't been tested yet on the PSP Slim & Lite.
