The Mark Twain Collection - Spend a couple of hours sitting on the mossy bank and dipping your toes into the cool water of the Mississippi with The Mark Twain Collection. The collection includes twelve of Twain's most famous works, including:
• A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court • The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
• Innocents Abroad • The Mysterious Stranger
• Life On The Mississippi • The Prince and the Pauper
• Roughing It • The Tragedy Of Pudd'nhead Wilson
• The $30,000 Bequest and Other Stories • Tom Sawyer Abroad
• The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn • Tom Sawyer, Detective

Twain was born Samuel Langhorne Clemens on November 30, 1835 at a time when Halley's comet was visible in the sky. He was reared in Hannibal, Missouri, and after his father's death when he was 11, Twain left home and worked as a writer in various east-coast cities before returning to Hannibal. He took a job as a riverboat pilot calling out "mark twain" when there were two fathoms of water beneath the boat, and thus, acquired his pen name.

"I have never let my schooling get in the way of my education."
Mark Twain

At the outbreak of the Civil War, Twain joined his brother on a journey by stagecoach through the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains to Nevada, and chronicled those experiences in "Roughing It" published in 1872. Twain's ability to capture quintessentially American colloquial speech brought him fame, but it was the publication of his masterpiece in 1884, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," that ensured his reputation. Twain died on April 21, 1910 at a time when Halley's comet was again visible in the sky.

Did You Know? Mark Twain holds U.S. patent #121992 entitled "Improvement in Adjustable and Detachable Straps for Garments" and was a close friend of Nikola Tesla.
