Are you dreaming of listening to the crackle of a campfire, smelling food simmering in the chuck wagon, and watching the stars come out? Do you yearn for a time when all a man had was his reputation, his horse and dog, and his trusty six-shooter? The Zane Grey Collection contains 24 of Grey's most famous works including "Riders of the Purple Sage," "Lone Star Ranger" and "The Border Legion."

Zane Grey almost single-handedly created the Western as a literary genre with stories of semi-outlaw heroes set against the beautiful but harsh landscape of the American West. Originally named Pearl Gray (his parents must have had a sense of humor), Grey was born in Zanesville, Ohio in 1872, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in dentistry. He practiced in New York City where he began to write, however, it was during a trip to the West in 1908 that Grey discovered his true calling: writing western-themed novels.

He produced over ninety works, many of which were turned into famous movie westerns, and sold an astounding 17 million copies during his lifetime. Grey moved west to Altadena, California in 1918, where he indulged his love of deep-sea fishing, and died there in 1939.

The Zane Grey Collection includes:

• Betty Zane • The Light of Western Stars
• Desert Gold • The Lone Star Ranger
• Riders of the Purple Sage • The Man of the Forest
• Romance of Early Settlers of the Ohio Valley • The Mysterious Rider
• Tales of Lonely Trails • The Rainbow Trail
• The border Legion • The Readheaded Outfield
• The Call of the Canyon • The Rustlers of Pecos County
• The Day of the Beast • The Spirit of the Border
• The Desert of Wheat • The U.P. Trail
• The Heritage of the Desert • The Young Forester
• The Last of the Plainsmen • To the Last Man
• The Last Trail • Wildfire
