Force High Resolution - Many applications display poorly on Pocket PC VGA as they don't support VGA mode, but use "double pixelisation". There's a work-around for this problem without having to go to "Full VGA" (as SE_VGA and OzVGA do). But this requires adding a little file next to each specific executable.
Force High Resolution has the same effect, without having to add the famous file time and again (10k each time), all done from a System Control Panel (with a simple .cpl file placed in Windows). You only need to add to the list the executable that you want to force to hi-res mode: simple, quick & effective.

PowerOptions PowerOptions is a software for HTC devices that allows you to easily soft reset, shut down, turn off backlight and put the device into standby mode.
A high priority was to use only "safe" functions, which will not harm the device. The shutdown method for one is the same HTC uses
RBC9-Landscape RBC9-Landscape - RBC9-Landscape is a small tool to rotate your PDA screen (WM5 only) on the left or the right (in fact there are 2 programs, you can install only one): one clic rotate the screen, an other clic and the screen came back to normal.
RBC9-Landscape can be put in the systray (link above) or as an stand alone executable, started, for example, from a launcher
AutoLight AutoLight - HTC Topaz (Diamond 2) auto adjust backlight function is a good idea with a not very good implementation. It must be said to HTC excuse that the light sensor is very noisy, especially at low light conditions.
Some alternatives do exist but are not very good or are Compact Framework application (not a very good idea for background application)

File Dialog Changer File Dialog Changer -This is one of those little utilities that hardly takes up any space on your Pocket PC but which makes life a lot easier: the program replaces the "Save As..." dialog box in applications and provides a decidely more complete interface with more ergonomic navigation. It's the type of program that shows Microsoft how it should be done
