MoBilScan MBS-X is designed to be used with the Car-Pal OBD Bluetooth Interface unit from Vital Engineering Ltd. When the engine MIL light starts flashing on your car's dashboard, you usually take you car to the nearest garage. Then a mechanic will decide what needs to be done at a cost which you will have to pay. Now it is possible to read out the reason why the engine light came on using your own mobile phone. MoBilScan can help by detecting engine malfunctions early and taking the guesswork out of diagnosing problems before they get more expensive and you don't have to pay the garage to do the diagnostics. MoBilScan can continuously receive and display a full list of engine parameters like oxygen sensor readings, air mass, temperature sensors and other parameters used by the engine control computer. Using MoBilScan you can compare these readings with reference values and thereby identify whether your engine is running at its optimum or you need to replace worn out components. By having your car in peak running condition, you can improve fuel economy dramatically. A smoothly running engine also helps save the environment by having minimum exhaust pollutants and reduced CO2 emissions. Another valuable usage of MoBilScan is when looking to buy a used car. MoBilScan can detect hidden problems on a short test ride. It could find, for instance, a degraded catalytic converter, a defect temperature sensor or a leaking vacuum hose all of which would incur significant repair costs. The information from MoBilScan can help you decide whether or not to buy, or even negotiate a much better deal on a used car with a detected fault.
