Xbmc controller beta allows users to control their XBMC media center using their WP7. The app is currently in beta primarily due to the continued development of the JSON API within xbmc. In order to use this app, you must download a nightly build of xbmc. I recommend using http://sshcs.com/xbmc/ for compiled builds or ppa:team-xbmc/unstable if you use Ubuntu. If you prefer to build things yourself, clone git://github.com/xbmc/xbmc.git. Builds after 6/27/11 should be fully compatible.
Once you have a compatible version of xbmc, setup should be relatively simple. In XBMC, make sure that "Allow control of XBMC via HTTP" is enabled under Settings - Network - Services. Using the HTTP control port, username, password from within XBMC and the IP address of your xbmc machine, start the XBMC controller app and go to settings. Modify the default settings with the aforementioned settings and hit the "test" button to verify connectivity. If your connection is successful, hit the save button and you are all set. The app was designed and tested for use through WiFi, although it should work fine using a cell network.
