Book Details
Omoo, Herman Melville's second published novel and the sequel to Typee, was originally subtitled A Narrative of Adventures in the South Seas. Again controversial for its criticism of missionary work, this time in Tahiti, the book begins where the previous volume left off. Here the narrator makes the mistake of signing onto a ship that is hardly seaworthy and under constant danger of mutiny. First published in 1847.
