The Mystery of Dr. Fu-Manchu
Sax Rohmer, whose real name was Arthur Ward, was born in 1883 in Birmingham England, and adopted the pen name "Sax" from the Saxon word for "blade" and "Rohmer" from "roamer". While he received little formal education, Rohmer had a life-long interest in Egyptology and the occult. After emigrating to the United States, Rohmer died in White Plains, New York in 1959.
