DietIntake HV3 for HanDBase - DietIntake was written using HanDBase version 3. It is a "relational" applet that documents food and medication intake. The "linked", "relational," "database popup" (DB popup), and "calculated" field types are used through out the application. There are thirteen databases. In most instances, the number of related records is displayed next to the "related" field type. Links are provided to the child databases for editing of those databases. As a note, deleting files must be done from the parent record in order to maintain proper indexing. In addition, more fields can be added to the "parent" database, DietIntake; however, with the high number of "child" databases this appelt has, additional fields in the "parent" database, DietIntake, speed will be noticeably slower due to the use of the "relational" field type. The primary database is "DietIntake." The "linked" and "relational" field ypes are used in this database. The linked field type is used to edit the databases and the relational field type is used to add and/or display the records in the datbases related using the date entered. The "date" field is the relational factor. The first "relational" field type branches to the DietBPPulse database. The first "linked" field type is used to edit the DietBPPulse database. Notes are documented using the "relational" field type; the relationship is based upon date. The "linked" field type is used to edit the DietNotes database. The "relational" field type is used to view related DietExercise records. The relationship is based upon date. This database maintains a list of all food and medications taken. This database is described below. The next option allows adding/viewing of medications taken in the DietMedTaken database; it uses the date as the relational factor. The next option is used to edit the DietMedTaken database. A weight tracking field is also to allow tracking of weight on a daily basis and to calculate the difference between today's weight and the last entry date. The number of "related" entries is displayed next to the "relational" fields, including "View Medications," "View Breakfast," "View MorningSnack," "View Lunch," "View AfternoonSnack," "View Supper," "View EveningSnack," and "View BedTimeSnack." The DietBPPulse database is used to maintain blood pressure, activity at time of check, blood pressure, heart and respiration rate. The DietExercise database is used to record exercise activity. Date, time, exercise type, number done, start/end time, and notes are entries. The length of time, running length of time and average length of time are provided. The DietMedFood database is where the food and medication list is kept. Fields in this database include item, calories, carbohydrates, fat, sodium, and notes. The "db popup" field type in the other databases is used to draw this information as needed. Other fields may be added and brought into the other databases using the "db popup" field type. Food and medications are maintained in this database. "View Breakfast" allows adding/viewing of items eaten during breakfast; it uses the date as the relational factor. "Edit Breakfast" is used to edit the "DietBreakfast" database. Fields are provided to capture item, calories, carbohydrates, fat, sodium and notes. The "db popup" field type is used to bring calories, carbohydrates, fat and sodium into the record. The information brought in may be manually changed as needed. "View MorningSnack" allows adding/viewing of items eaten during the morning snack; it uses the date as the relational factor. "Edit MorningSnack" is used to edit the "DietMorningSnack" database. Fields are provided to capture item, calories, carbohydrates, fat, sodium and notes. The "db popup" field type is used to bring calories, carbohydrates, fat and sodium into the record.
