Hikes The Trip for HanDBase is a HanDBase applet designed to document hikes. There are four databases. The "relational," "db-popup," "calculated," and "pop-up" field types are used throughout the applet. The "Time created" field is used in most of the databases as the "relational" factor. As with all relational databases, the addition and deletion of records must be done within the parent record in order to maintain proper indexing. HikesTheTrip is the main database. Fields include date, begin time, end time, total time, location, directions, previously hiked (check box), pictures, contacts, cost, begin, ending and total miles, special concerns, weather conditions, hike rating, difficulty rating, hike again, and notes. The "Location" field is a "db-popup" used to enter the location from the "HikeLocations" database. The "Edit displayed loc" field is a "relational" field that allows editing of the displayed location in the "Location" field. The "Edit Locations" field is a "linked" field that allows edting of the entire "HikeLocations" database. " The "Contacts" field is a "db-popup" field to enter contact information form the "HikeContacts" databsae. The "Edit Disp Contact" field is a "relational" field that allows editing of the displayed contact in the "Contacts" field. The "Edit Contacts" field allows editing of the entire "HikeContacts" database. The "Total miles" field is a "calculated" field that displays the difference between "End mileage' and "Begin mileage." The "Hike rating," "Difficulty rating," and "Hike again" fields are pop-up fields. The number of related records is displayed next to the "relational" fields. The "HikeLocations" database contains five fields. "Hike name" is used to capture the name of the location. "Location" is used to capture the area where the hike is, i.e., Oahu, Hi. "Permit info" is used to record permit required information. "Note" is used to capture notes. The "Rec#" field is used to display the record number. The "HikePictures" database contains eight fields. Fields are provided to capture date and time the picture(s) are taken, description, note, and photographer. The "Hike name" field displays the "related" hike name. Tapping the "hike name" field opens the "HikeLocations" database and displays the "related" hike name. This field is automatically filled in and displayed, therefore, it is not necessary to tap this field. The "Time created" field is the relational factor. The "HikeContacts" database contains seven fields. Fields are provided to capture name, address, phone number(s), notes, and next contact date. The "Date created" field is provided as a reference. The "name" field is the relational factor between the "HikeContacts" and the "HikesTheTrip" database.
