The Forsyte Saga Collection - If you enjoyed watching The Forsyte Saga on BBC or PBS, you're going to love reading The Forsyte Saga Collection on your handheld. Written by John Galsworthy between 1906 and 1921, it is comprised of three novels: "The Man of Property," "Indian Summer of a Forsyte" and "Awakening". The saga follows the fortunes of the Victorian-era Forsyte family headed by four very different brothers. At each extreme are Jolyon, who has adopted a humanistic approach to life, and James, a straight-laced Victorian to his core.

"He was strangely haunted by the recollection of her face, from before which, to soothe her, he had tried to pull her hands--of her terrible smothered sobbing, the like of which he had never heard ?"
The Forsyte Saga
John Galsworthy

The fate of the family is set in motion by two events: Jolyon's son's escaping an unhappy marriage for a life as a painter in the arms of his child June's governess, and James's son Soames's marriage to the beautiful Irene, who does not love him. Soames's attempt to buy her affection by building her a new house backfires disastrously when she falls in love with the dashing young architect Phillip Bosinney, who just happens to be engaged to June.
