FewChessDS We've already had our share of chess games for the DS, but any additions will always be welcome. Another homebrew chess game in the list is Sephiroth_FF7's FewChessDS, a chess program that lets players play solo or with against an AI opponent.
Now, before you get disappointed for lack of online play, you need to know that FewChessDS lets players choose Chess modes - so far, it now supports the classic chess and Capablanca chess. Capablanca is a more complex chess mode that is played on a 10x8 board.
Here's the changelog of what's been changed and added to the program so far:

DSChess DSChess It's been a long while since we last heard about Fabien Letouzey's DSChess. For those who aren't acquainted with this homebrewed goodness (or perhaps, forgotten), DSChess is...well, a chess game that uses Letouzey's own Fruit 2.1 engine, which is tweaked to accommodate Nintendo DS requirements
MancalaDS MancalaDS It took Lotti quite a while to fix the sound bug for MancalaDS v2.0, but fix it he eventually did. He just released an update for the sound bug which was due to, and we quote, "an ancient makefile" that he was using. Now, he's been able to change it and recompiled a newer version
OMalone OMalone "The final version 2.2 is out," says the OMalone team's website. OMalone is the Abalone game for the Nintendo DS. It's a homebrew game, but the polish and refinement of this game is noteworthy.
