X10do-DS See, if we had the necessary tech to pull off this sort of modification, we would be busy playing with our lights on the DS and freaking out houseguests. Over at the PAlib forums, PhoneGuy made a program that would allow him to control his home automation system from his DS.
The program, called X10do-DS, lets him mess around with the settings of his houselights because the program allows him to engage his X10 home automation system. That being said, he can flip the lights on even when he can't see his house:
Virtually all the lights in my house can be controlled remotely via X10. I decided it would be nice to use the stylus to not only change the brightness of the DS Lite screen but also the house. The standard X10 controllers only work from within the house. I have used my DS to turn on my porch lights, while standing on my relatives porch, 100 miles away from my house.
Now, that definitely isn't for everyone. It's not as if everyone owns a home automation system. Still, there's a lot to be said for this kind of programming job, even if you can't pull it off yourself.
If you're interested in trying it out (if you have a home automation system), you'll definitely want to check the readme. It has instructions on what you'll need to get it all to work, as well as a list of needed materials and coding commands. That being said, this program deserves a big salute! Now, if only we could get it to work on the lights in the office...
