Novel Text Input Method from xdzt:

Hey guys, I had an idea for a way to input text that I hadn't seen before so I whipped up a quick demo.

Basically, up down left right A B X Y all correspond to a character. Pressing L, R, or L+R brings up a different set of eight characters. Holding the lower section of the screen acts as a shift key, the upper left as an enter key, the upper right as a backspace.

I was going to make numbers and all symbols available by pressing SELECT and having them appear on the lower screen where you could select them with your stylus Character Map style, but I couldn't get it to work so I'm putting out a version without that. In an ideal world, perhaps this input method could be used in a text editor app where you could toggle between the buttons acting as navigators and as input by something like L+R+Start.

Anyway, I just thought it was fun and potentially quick. Feel free to have a go.

The lower screen displays what characters are mapped to which buttons (the layout was determined by looking at a frequency analysis of english characters in prose)

If anyone wants the sourcecode, I'll be happy to oblige, but it's pretty much what you'd expect.

I hope you like it!
